The historical Poonch Fort is situated in the center of the city. After partition, it became part of the Poonch administration secretariat, but during the 2005 earthquake it was damaged. It has been declared a heritage building and is on the tourism map. The people of Poonch are happy with renovation of the historical fort, as it will help attract more tourists.Bandipora is a newly formed district, but it lacks proper sanitation facilities. According to residents of the area, the drainage system of the town is so poor that roads are flooded during rains. There is also no proper mechanism to clear and dispose of garbage from the main markets.Most people of Moda Khetan village are below the poverty line. They face many problems due to the non-availability of electricity. The village also lacks basic facilities like roads and safe drinking water.
