Arterial Mughal road reopens in Kashmir
Rajouri, May 03 (ANI): One-way traffic resumed on Sunday on the arterial Mughal road, which remains shut throughout winters due to heavy snowfall, in Jammu and Kashmir at the onset of summer. The Mughal Road which connects Rajouri and Poonch districts with the rest of Jammu and Kashmir is a lifeline for the villages located on the border of the province as it connects them to the prominent cities of the state, which are the hub of economic activities. Incessant snowfall had led to the blockage of the highway causing major inconvenience to the locals. Every year, the road reopens in May. A Taxi driver, Ratan Lal expressed happiness saying it would bring great respite to passengers. Meanwhile, Executive Engineer Mughal Road, MH Mirza urged the government to make it a two-way highway and take necessary steps to keep it open throughout the year.
