An all rounder with spectacular abilities both with bat and ball he gradually became a reliable pillar of India's middle order.

He is a left hand batsman and slow left arm orthodox spin bowler. He made his ODI debut on 3 October 2000 against Kenya and played his first Test match against New Zealand in Mohali in 2003. He is one of the best point and covers fielders of India and has a great aim at the stumps.
