National Democratic Alliance (India) also called NDA is a Bharatiya Janata Party led alliance of political parties in India.

National Democratic Alliance (India) also called NDA is a Bharatiya Janata Party led alliance of political parties in India. The alliance was formed in the year 1998. At the time of its formation thirteen parties were member of it. In the following years it came to power two times. When it was in power Atal Bihari Bajpayee became the prime minister of India.

Presently Sharad Yadav who is the leader of JD (U) one of its alliance partners is convener of the alliance. On the various issue this alliance has registered an effective opposition to the ruling UPA government. This alliance has government in many states in India.

But as it is said there are no permanent friend and foes in the politics this alliance too is not an exception of this rule. The membership of this alliance keeps changing old allies leaving the NDA and new allies joining the coalition. L. K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Sharad Yadav,Nitish Kumar, Parkash Singh Badal, Bal Thackeray and Narendra Modi are its prominent leaders.
