Aruba News: Aruba is a 33 kilometres long island in the southern Caribbean Sea, discovered and claimed by Spain in 1499. Later on in 1636 the Dutch acquired the beautiful island of Aruba. It is one of the most prosperous territories in the Caribbean. The economy of Aruba Island is dominated by three main industries i.e. Petrochemical Refining, Gold Mining and Tourism. Gold was first discovered in the first decade of the 19th Century while oil was discovered in the second. The last decades of the 20th century saw a boom in the tourism industry. Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 and became a separate, autonomous member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Aruba has a high tourist presence owing to nature?s charm, enticing cuisine and warm hospitality of people, blended with age-old culture that attracts people from the world over.
