New Delhi, May 7 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi's bodyguards went into a tizzy when she stopped her car on seeing a man on a wheelchair and accepted a bouquet of flowers from him Thursday.
There was a flurry of activity among the security personnel in Gandhi's entourage when she suddenly stopped her car soon after leaving Nirman Bhavan in the heart of the capital, where she cast her vote.
Ashok Nagpal, 42, had come all the way from Patel Nagar in West Delhi to meet Gandhi.
'I have been coming here during all the elections and giving a bouquet to Sonia Gandhi. Now she recognises me. I had been waiting here since early morning. I knew she was coming to vote,' Nagpal told IANS.
Gandhi received the bouquet and thanked Nagpal, who has been seeking votes for the party.
'I am not a Congress worker but I have been roaming throughout the city on my wheelchair asking people to vote for the Congress,' Nagpal said.
