New Delhi/Mumbai/ Kolkata, Apr 1 (ANI): Scores of Nano-buffs made beelines at the showrooms to catch the glimpse of 'Nano', the world's cheapest car.

In New Delhi, the prospective customers of Nano thronged the Tata showrooms in hundreds.

It's prospective customers included the ones like Naval Kishore who wanted to gift it to his wife as he found the car very economical.

"I really like it and it's very good for the common man. I want to gift it to my wife since it is very economical that's why I want my wife to drive it," said Kishore, a customer.

While in Mumbai, the enthusiasm of the prospective customers was no less.

"Actually I felt really good because when I saw this car it was much bigger as compared to my expectations while I was expecting this vehicle to be a little smaller. When I saw it from outside and I thought that the inner space would be a little smaller but when I actually saw Nano not only the inner space but everything about it was fantastic," said Mandar, another customer.

In Kolkata, ladies were seen test-driving Nano.

It was launched six months behind schedule in a subdued market, with production in the first year severely constrained and the threat of further ratings downgrades hanging over the company.

Amidst all these trends, the company has said that it will take over a year to deliver the first 100,000 cars.

Since the Nano was first shown, the main production plant had to be moved from Singur in West Bengal following protests over acquisition of agricultural lands by the State Government for the setting up of Nano factory.

Consequently, Tata Motors posted its first loss in seven years with its shares declining by 70 per cent and its credit rating downgraded.

According to Ratan Tata, the first 100,000 Nano owners will be randomly picked from bookings made between April 9 and 25, and their prices will be protected. (ANI)
