Khemkaran (Punjab), Mar 9 (ANI): Six kilograms of heroin worth five million dollars seized at the India-Pakistan international border at Khemkaran in Punjab.
Officers of the Special Narcotic cell (SNC) of the state police force said that on a tip off, a raid was conducted and six packets of the drug were found buried near the barbed fencing at the international border on Sunday.
"We found six packets of heroin in a bag near border pillar number 162 near the international border," said M L Wasan, Deputy Inspector General, Border Security Force, Khemkaran.
India is viewed as a major transit point for drug smuggling to the West.
Heroin is derived from morphine, a naturally occurring substance extracted from the seedpod of the Asian poppy plant, and appears as a white or brown powder. (ANI)
