Mamata accuses CPI (M) of vote-bank politics

Kolkata, Sun, 22 Feb 2009 ANI

Kolkata, Feb 22 (ANI): Trinamool Congress Chief Mamta Banerjee has criticised the Communist Party of India (Marxist) of hoodwinking people by merely announcing developmental projects before general elections.

"The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is trying to fool the masses by announcing few projects on the eve of Lok Sabha polls. It is nothing new, but a political gimmick. But throughout the year, they have not done any development oriented works in Bengal, but have killed so many people, have taken the land of the people and snatching the jobs of the people. Now, they are announcing the projects just before the elections," said Mamata while addressing party workers here.

Mamta's Trinamool Congress faces in West Bengal, the Communist regime by the Left Front.

Interestingly, this rule by the Left Front is the world's longest-serving democratically elected government.

General elections are due sometime in May this year. (ANI)
