New Delhi, Feb 8 (ANI): Addressing a meeting of Congress district and block level office-bearers here on Sunday, party President Sonia Gandhi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging in divisive politics.
Starting the Congress campaign for the forthcoming general elections, Gandhi said, "Grave damage has been done to our secular polity, society and economy by the BJP-led NDA. Theirs is a voice of polarisation, of division, of hatred. Ours is a voice of social justice, communal harmony and inclusiveness."
She claimed that the BJP has only addressed the needs of a "privileged few", while the Congress was the voice of common man.
Gandhi announced the Congress party's achievements during the past five years, including promotion of a secular polity, unprecedented economic growth and its determined fight against terror. She also appreciated the work of her party for handling the nation during the global recession.
"The world is going through a economic recession. There is no room for complacency but India is demonstrating its resilience," she said. (ANI)
