Easy wins for Indian teams in Asian junior squash

Chennai, Jan 20 (IANS) India made a winning start in the Asian junior squash championship team event that began here Tuesday.

 

The Indian boys, led by Aditya Jagtap, Ravi Dixit and Paramjit Singh, outplayed Sri Lanka while the girls, who rested their top player Dipika Pallikal, came through 3-0 against Japan.

 

 

The results:

 

Boys: Pool A-Malaysia bt China 3-0; Korea bt Qatar 3-0; Pool B- Hong Kong bt Chinese Taipei 3-0; Japan bt Sri Lanka 2-1. India bt Sri Lanka 3-0 (Aditya Jagtap bt Gihan Suwaris 11-8, 11-2, 12-10, Ravi Dixit bt Dilshan Senaratne 11-6, 11-1, 11-5, Paramit Singh bt Kasun Weerasuriya 11-5, 11-7, 11-7.

 

 

Girls: Pool A- Malaysia bt Iran 3-0; Korea bt Singapore 2-1; Pool B-India bt Japan 3-0 (V Anwesha Reddy bt Mayu Yamazaki 13-15 12-10 11-7 5-11 11-5 (37mins); Anaka Alankamony bt Waka Nakamoto 11-4 11-6 11-4 (16mins); Saumya Karki bt Risa Sugimoto 11-3 11-5 11-8 (27mins). Hong Kong bt Sri Lanka 3-0.
