Government conspiring against Hindus, says Togadia

National,Politics, Wed, 26 Nov 2008 IANS

New Delhi, Nov 26 (IANS) The central government is falsely implicating innocent army men and Hindu seers in the name of Hindu terrorism, alleged Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) international general secretary Praveen Togadia Wednesday.

Togadia, who led hundreds of seers in a march from Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place to parliament building, said the government should arrest personnel of Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for torturing Sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur and army official Lt.Col. Shrikant Purohit. They are amongst the 10 people alleged to have been arrested for the Sep 29 bombing in Maharashtra's Malegaon town.

'The (United Progressive Alliance) government is making efforts to save jihadi terrorists by falsely propagating Hindu terrorism,' Togadia told reporters, launching his hardline Hindu group's nationwide agitation against the government.

He went on to say that the government was conspiring against Hindus and reiterated that the death sentence against Mohammed Afzal Guru, convicted for the 2001 parliament attack, be carried out and measures like the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) be imposed.

'If the government fails to fulfill our demand, it will become a movement like Ram Janmabhoomi movement,' he threatened, referring to the movement that finally led to the demolition of the Babri Mosque in December 1992.

Togadia added that the Central Bureau of Investigation and the ATS had rejected reports that he had funded the Abhinav Bharat, a radical Hindu outfit allegedly at the centre of the Malegaon conspiracy.

The VHP also organised rallies in several other colonies in the capital, including Kalkaji in the south and Shahdara in the east, ahead of the assembly elections in the city on Saturday.
