New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) India's Somdev Devvarman fought hard but could not stop local favourite Robert Kendrick from winning the $75,000 ATP Challenger in Nashville, US.
The 23-year-old Indian who so far had a 2-0 record against the fourth-seeded Kendrick, went down 3-6, 5-7 on the hard courts Sunday.
The Davis Cupper has been outstanding in the tournament that included routing of third seed Jesse Levine in the semi-final.
Kendrick will get a winner's purse of $10,800 and 60 ATP points while Somdev will have to be content with $6,360 and 42 ATP points.
It was a disappointing day for India in doubles as well with Harsh Mankad and Ashutosh Singh going down 4-6, 5-7 to Australian Carsten Ball and Travis Rettenmair of US.
