PGTI member Jeev Milkha Singh kept himself in title hunt as he carded the day with a round of 76 and managed to make the cut alongwith three Indian golfers at the BMW Asian Open currently underway in Shanghai here on Friday.
The highest ranked Indian Jeev is placed at tied 16th after the end of round two. SSP Chowrasia, Shiv Kapur and Digvijay Singh were the other Indians who made the cut even as the cut was made at three over 147.
Rahil Gangjee (73, 75), Gaurav Ghei (74, 74) and Jyoti Randhawa (75, 73) were bit unlucky as they missed the bus by only one stroke after carding four over 148 to finish at tied 67th.
Jeev had a contrasting second round 76 in comparison to his first round score of 68. He ended day two with a total of even par 144 and trailed the joint leaders, Dutchman Robert-Jan Derksen and China’s Zhang Lian-Wei by five strokes.
Jeev had a dismal second round start as he dropped bogey on the opening hole followed by fourth, fifth, eight, 11th and 14th. He could only manage birdies on the ninth and 18th in the second round.
Indian Masters winner SSP Chowrasia (72, 73) climbed from overnight tied 35th to tied 29th as his total moved to one over 145.
Chowrasia’s round of 73 on Friday included birdies on the seventh, 12th, 16th and 17th and bogeys on the eighth, 11th and 18th. He also double bogeyed the par four sixth.
Shiv Kapur (71, 75) and Digvijay Singh (74, 72) were the other two PGTI members who managed to make the cut with an overall score of two over 146. The duo finished the day in tied 39th place.
Amandeep Johl (78, 74) ended the tournament in tied 118th with an overall score of eight over 152.
