Kashyap, Mutatkar reache Dutch Open quarterfinal

New Delhi, Oct 17 (IANS) India's Parupalli Kashyap cruised into the quarterfinals of the Dutch Open badminton with a 21-17, 15-21, 21-15 upset win over seventh-seeded Yu Hsin Hsieh of Chinese Taipei Friday.

 

Kashyap next faces Dicky Palyama of Netherlands, who defeated Czech Pavel Florian 21-11, 21-17.

 

 

In the women's singles, Aditi Mutatkar, too, made it to the quarterfinals with a 12-21, 21-13, 21-18 win over Indonesian Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasar to set a next round clash with Bulgarian Linda Zechiri 21-17, 22-20.

 

 

In the men's doubles, Rupesh Kumar and Sanave Thomas beat the Belgium pair of Wouter Claes and Frederic Mawet to enter the last eight. They next play Germans Kristof Hopp and Johannes Schoettler, who beat Jacco Arends and Jelle Maas of Netherlands 21-12, 21-11.

 

 

Riding on a form high Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian beat Netherlands Rachel Van Cutsen and Paulien Van Dooremalen 21-17, 21-19 to reach quarterfinal in women's doubles. They next meet German pair Johanna GoliszewskI and Michaela Peiffer, who beat Dutch pair Patty Stolzenbach and Yik Man Wong 11-21, 21-14, 21-17.
