National, Wed, 15 Oct 2008 IANS

New Delhi, Oct 14 (IANS) In yet another incident of criminals targeting senior citizens living alone in the capital, an 80-year-old widow was robbed of Rs.150,000 in cash and some jewellery by an acquaintance and his two accomplices in south Delhi, police said Tuesday.

Police said three men entered Subhadra Devi Sharma's Greater Kailash-I home on the pretext of asking for drinking water Monday afternoon. She allowed them in as she knew one of them.

'The men tied her legs and hands. They ransacked the house and took Rs.150,000 and some jewellery before fleeing. We have identified them and they would be arrested soon," said a police officer.

Sharma, who lost her husband four years ago, lives alone in the house as her only son Gaurav lives in Ghaziabad.
