Major Ravi Rathore pumped in four vital goals, including a fine goal in the dying moments of the game, guiding 61st Cavalry team to beat Jaipur Polo Company (JPC) 6.5-3 in the title clash, to claim the top honours, of the Emaar-MGF Sawai Man Singh Gold Vase 8-goal polo tournament here on Sunday.
Manupal Godara opened the account for JPC, which had a handicap of eight, in the second chukker while Atul Gupta scored Cavalry’s first goal. Cavalry started with half-a-goal handicap. Rathore came up with a fine brace in the third chukker to strengthen the lead of his team.
Godara scored two goals further but the Cavalry team was always one step ahead of their rivals. They continuously let down JPC’s attack in the fourth and final chukker.
Even though JPC had higher ball possession and brilliant stroke play, but still they failed to make the most out of the opportunities that came their way. Godara was at his best on Sunday as he scored all the goals for JPC team, but his hard efforts went in vain as his team ended up on losing side.
