London, Jan 12 (ANI): Detectives reinvestigating the death of actress Natalie Wood said on Wednesday that there was no new evidence to suggest she was murdered.
The 43-year-old actress had drowned off the California coast in 1981, while staying on her yacht with actor husband Robert Wagner and film star Christopher Walken.
Last November, a decision to reopen the case that had long been classified as an accident had fuelled fresh intrigue.
But after two months of interviews and other investigative work, Los Angeles County Sheriff's chief of detectives William McSweeney said they had failed to uncover any evidence of murder, the Daily Express reported.
He however, added, that such cases are never really closed and detectives are still looking at some aspects of the situation.
The investigation was reopened after several sources came forward with new information.
Steve Whitmore, of the LA sheriff's department, said while there was no compelling evidence that suggested foul play, new developments could come at any time.
"It's an open investigation and new leads could change the outcome," he said. (ANI)
