Perth, Jan.12 (ANI): Off-spinner Nathan Lyon has urged Australia to be bold and toss him into cricket's version of hell's kitchen at the WACA tomorrow.
According to the Courier Mail, if the wicket retains its greenness, Starc is favored to play. If it dries and loses colour Lyon will play his 10th Test in succession.
Like every other spin bowler, Lyon has struggled to threaten the Indians.
"I have played here before with the South Australian Redbacks on debut and I had some success with the bounce and the wind. I am confident of my skill set to go well here. I think I can get the job done," Lyon was quoted, as saying.
Lyon may have taken just two wickets at 90 against the Indians, but his overall Test record of 24 wickets at 30 apiece gives Australia hope it may at last have found the spin bowling anchor it has been craving since Warne's retirement.
"I am looking forward to the challenge of bowling to the Indians here. It has been a great challenge for me so far but hopefully I can find something out of this deck. It has a little bit more bounce for me, which helps," said Lyon.
He added: "I will keep toiling away and hopefully have some success. It is a challenge for me to tie down one end and keep the pressure on. I have had a couple of good chats to Mickey Arthur and the ball is coming out of my hand well. Hopefully whatever 11 they pick I am pretty confident we will get 20 wickets in the game." (ANI)
