Perth, Jan 10(ANI): Sydney Sixers chief executive Stuart Clark has lauded the leadership skills of Australian wicket- keeper batsman Brad Haddin after Cricket Australia appointed him as the team's vice-captain in the absence of Shane Watson.
"He was never afraid to share his views but he was never afraid to take someone else's point of view as well. That's what makes a good leader, the guys who have a good idea and understanding but also have an appreciation of what others think and be able to implement that," Clark said.
"I think it's important he's in the team for that reason. Those guys are still learning their craft, they need an older head around," he added.
It is however, not the first time that Haddin is assuming an official leadership role, having captained New South Wales at the Twenty20 level and more recently been appointed Sydney Sixers skipper in the Big Bash League.
Haddin's position has been strengthened due No.2 gloveman Tim Paine battling an injury and doubts over Matthew Wade's ability to keep wickets in Test cricket, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Haddin, however, had earlier come under a scanner for reckless dismissals in Cape Town, when Australia was bundled out for 47, and during the unsuccessful run chase in Hobart against New Zealand. His performances, both behind the stumps, as well as with the bat, have been dismal at best in the ongoing series with India as well.(ANI)
