New Delhi, Jan 6 (ANI): An Inter-Ministerial Central team (IMCT) lead by Lokesh Jha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, is likely to leave today to visit Puducherry and Tamil Nadu and assess the damage caused by cyclone 'Thane'.
The team has been constituted by the government for on-the-spot assessment of the situation in the wake of cyclonic storm 'Thane' in Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.
IMCT consists of the representatives of the Ministries/ Departments of Agriculture, Drinking Water, Finance, Health, Power, Road Transport and Highways, Rural Development, Water Resources, Planning Commission and National Disaster Management Authority.
It may be recalled that Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, who visited the cyclone-hit areas earlier this week, assured all assistance to those affected by the cyclone "Thane" and said that a high-level central team would visit Puducherry and Tamil Nadu soon to make an on-the-spot assessment of the damage caused by the cyclone.
