New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): Supreme Court has issued notice to the Mayawati-led government of Uttar Pradesh and Greater Noida Authority on the issue of land acquisition in the Gautam Budh Nagar area.
According to media reports, the notices were issued on Tuesday after farmers filed a petition with regard to the acquisition of their land.
While addressing mediapersons in New Delhi on Thursday, Senior Counsel S C Maheshwari gave further details on the notices issued.
"The Supreme Court has issued notice asking for an answer within three weeks. The notices have been issued to the chief of Greater Noida authority, Collector of Gautam Budh Nagar and to the state and asked for a reply on the issue," said Maheshwari.
The farmers have accused the Greater Noida Authority of forcefully acquiring their land.
Maheshwari added that the land had initially been acquired for industrial development but parks had been built instead.
"According to the farmers, the construction work undertaken by the Mayawati- government is not meant for any public purpose, she has built private property and had the land notified for industrialisation purposes," added Maheshwari. (ANI)
