New Delhi, Jan 5 (ANI): Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, arrived in New Delhi on Thursday on a nine-day state visit to India aimed at boosting bilateral economic and diplomatic ties.
India's Telecom Minister for State Sachin Pilot welcomed Bissessar at the airport upon her arrival.
A high-level delegation of business leaders, entrepreneurs and ministers is accompanying Bissessar in her landmark visit.
This is the first visit by a Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago in nearly 15 years.
Bissessar will be given a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavanon Friday. She is scheduled to meet Indian External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and attend a business meeting later in the day.
She will also meet Vice-President Hamid Ansari and her Indian counterpart, Manmohan Singh during the high-profile visit.
Though India and Trinidad and Tobago have strong historical and cultural links, the volume of bilateral trade remains significantly low compared to India's economic engagements with other nations. (ANI)
