Mount Abu/Sirsa/Kullu, Jan 4 (ANI): Cold wave remained unabated in several parts of Northern India on Wednesday as temperatures plummeted to sub zero levels.
The low visibility returned due to the fog, as winter intensified in Mount Abu, Rajasthan.
The biting cold and icy winds proved to be a dampener for several tourists who had arrived to enjoy in the hilly locales.
"We thought the weather is pleasant here, so we came to this place, but since last evening we are under the spell of the intense cold wave that our feet and hands are so frozen. Boats are covered with snow," said Rajpal Yadav, a visitor.
School children were seen sitting in the open soaking the warmth of the winter sun during the afternoons.
"It is very cold in Mount Abu and all the grounds in the city are covered with snow. We do not wish to come to school in the morning," said Sanya, a student.
Meanwhile, farmers in Haryana's Sirsa District bore the brunt of the intense cold and fog, causing damage to their crops.
"The severe cold and dense fog has damaged all the crops. Due to the heavy fog, the flowers fall off," said Jagdish Kumar, a farmer.
Residents in Kullu braved the chill, as minimum temperature went below the freezing point.
Most areas witnessed snowfall, adding to the spine-chilling atmosphere. The locals shivered in the biting cold and further suffered from the vagaries of the weather, which had already troubled them in the last few days. (ANI)
