Jammu, Dec 31 (ANI): General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Nagrota-based 16th corps of Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant General A S Nandal, on Saturday said there has been a decline in infiltration attempts into India as compared to the previous years.
"Overall, there has been a decrease in infiltration attempts and there has also been a downfall in the militant related incidents. Overall there has been a huge difference as compared to previous years," he said.
Lieutenant General Nandal said the army is patrolling along the border to curb infiltration attempts.
"We are always patrolling on the borders for 12 long months and are always ready. We are not bothered whether it is winter, summer or raining. The aim is to curb infiltration," he added.
Infiltration has been a major point of contention between India and Pakistan. India has accused Pakistan of arming, training and sending militants to the strife-torn Kashmir region. (ANI)
