London, Dec 31 (ANI): Astrologers and bookmakers had predicted rocky times for Katy Perry and Russell Brand, which would eventually end in divorce.
Ever since the couple wed in October 2009, experts were queuing up to predict it wouldn't last.
"Russell pretends to be this maniacal character and he's not, he's an absolute softie, a gentle soul. This year's not that great for Russell, next year's not that great for Russell, but it will be a blockbuster year for Katy," the Mirror quoted celebrity astrologer Paul Watson as having said.
"If the marriage is going to hit the rocks, where Katy soars and Russell sinks, it could be 2012," he had said.
Eventually, Watson's predication has turned out to be absolutely correct, as Brand declared the marriage over two days short of 2012.
Just after their lavish Indian wedding, the Daily Mirror reported that bookmakers were offering 7-2 that the pair would split by December 31 2011 - spookily, they parted the day before that cut-off date.
"We weren't convinced it would last and neither were our punters," a William Hill spokesman said.
"Every bet we offered on them - to split after 1 year, 2 years, 3 years and so on - our customers put their money on the negative side," he added.
On Friday, the company had made Russell and Katy the hot favourites to be the first celebrity couple to split in 2011, and the odds were reduced from 6/5 to 10/11. (ANI)
