New Delhi, Dec 30 (ANI): To scale up its presence in the inputs segment in agriculture, leading agro-chemicals company Crystal Group has announced a strategic acquisition of Hyderabad-based Rohini Seeds.
Crystal Group which has an annual turnover of around Rs 800 crore, with this acquisition has made a strong foray into emerging seeds segment, which is worth 1.5 billion dollars (Rs 8000cr) and is slated to grow to 2.5 billion dollars in next five years.
Rohini Seeds is among the leading seeds companies of south India and in over 10 years of its existence has expanded its footprints and products range significantly.
With this acquisition, Crystal has now an entire gamut of products and infrastructure including several commercial and hybrid seeds of various crops, state-of-the-art seed processing plants, seed lab, research farms and extensive R andD and breeding programmes.
"This is a strategic step forward to step up Crystal's presence in the entire input value chain for the farmers. The total market of seeds companies in India is estimated to be around Rs 8000 cr in organized sector which includes hybrid/research and notified varieties. (ANI)
