India, Oz aiming for good start in Test series

Melbourne, Sun, 25 Dec 2011 ANI

Melbourne, Dec 25(ANI): Both India and Australia are looking forward to a series win and will aim to gain a good start in the Boxing Day Test.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni said it is ' great' to have fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan back in the squad to lead the attack.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni is expecting opener Virender Sehwag to dominate the game or his bowlers to take on Australia.

"What is important is how we start the first Test, break it into sessions and win more than the opposition. We will place emphasis on the small things and not think about the fourth Test," Dhoni said.

Australia will aim to gain a solid start in the wake fresh memories of a poor first session in the past Boxing Day Test when they were wrapped up at 98.

"How you start the game generally, for the Australian team anyway, that sums up or is a good indication for where the Test match is going to end up," telegraph.com.au quoted Australian skipper Michael Clarke, as saying.

"I'm confident we've got the best XI to win this Test match in these conditions. I can use Michael Hussey, Ricky Ponting and myself to bowl a few overs. David Warner can bowl a few leg-spinners. I feel we've got the right XI to give ourselves a chance of winning this Test match," he added.

Clarke defended the team's decision to deny all- rounder Dan Christian a Boxing Day debut.

Clarke said Australia's swing bowler Ben Hilfenhaus have been given a final berth in the squad because he was capable of bowling long spells and assume workload with Shane Watson and Dan Christian being ruled out for the Test.

"I think it plays a part. His control, he's a very good new ball bowler. He can bowl long spells. He's had success against India as well. There's a few reasons we decided to go with Hilfy. (ANI)
