Chennai, Dec 23 (ANI): In an endeavour to promote the products of handloom weavers from across the country, Tamil Nadu organised a week-long handloom exhibition in Chennai. he Department of Ministry of Textiles hosted the mega exhibition in Chennai, which began on December 21.
Exquisite collection of handloom products from various states including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, Assam, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu would be displayed at 124 stalls.he main objective behind organizing this exhibition was to provide a platform to the handloom weavers for selling off their hoarded stock and facilitate the customers with genuine products.
"In these exhibitions we were getting a platform to sell out their existing stock or the compiled stock which was lying for sometime. So, they can roll back, they can walk again afresh. Plus, the consumers, they can get the genuine products at their doorstep, the products all over the country not only of Tamil Nadu. This exhibition is in Tamil Nadu, Chennai."
"But they can get the products of Jammu and Kashmir, they can get the products of Bengal, they can get the product of Vizag. So, all Indian handloom products under one umbrella with the genuine manufacturers, this is a real opportunity," said B B Paul, Director, south zone, National Handloom Exhibition.
Customers appreciated the quality and variety of handloom products displayed at the exhibition.
The organizers hoped that the exhibition would create awareness among the consumers about the latest designs and varieties of fabrics produced in the handloom sector. (ANI)
