Melbourne, Dec.21 (ANI): Captain Michael Clarke has said that Tasmanian opener Ed Cowan's Test call up has put his faltering national unit on notice to perform or go out.
Clarke also guaranteed predecessor Ricky Ponting "was fine" and would play in the first Test against India in Melbourne despite copping a nasty blow on his finger at training from young paceman James Pattinson.
"Ed has been a consistent performer and will be looking forward to an opportunity. We have to work out what the best combination is," the Adelaide Now newspaper quoted Clarke, as saying of Cowan.
He added: "Everyone has to perform in the team now." (ANI)
