London, Dec 16 (ANI): Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is likely to follow his team-mate Didier Drogba in quitting the club.
Drogba is slated to join Chinese club Dalian Aerbin at over 200,000 pound per week even before his contract expires in summer after being outraged over Chelsea's refusal to incorporate his demands in a new two- year contract, The Sun reports.
Lampard is planning to quit the club after being axed from the last two games against Valencia and Manchester City.
He suffered a severe blow after Chelsea manager Andre Villas- Boas refused to grant him any special concessions.
"Plenty of players are pushing for selection and Frank is not the only one. Lamps and John Terry represent the best in the history of this club. But every player must be treated as fairly as possible," Villas-Boas said.
"I speak with Frank every day and he will continue to be important for this club.
I know that Steve Kutner, Frank's agent, has contacted Ron Gourlay (Chelsea chief executive) about Frank's contract situation. But we have not decided yet," he added.
Kutner, however, rejected these claims, saying he called on Gourlay to discuss about 'Frank's importance to the club' rather than his contract. (ANI)
