Srinagar, Dec 15 (ANI): In a bid to boost adventure tourism in the state, the authorities have laid down the foundation for an artificial rock-climbing wall in Kashmir's Budgam District.
The construction of the rock-climbing wall is expected to cost Rs 95 lakh.
Along with the wall, a training centre is also being built close to the Nowgam Railway Station. The construction is expected to be complete by March next year.
Residents believe it will become a major tourist attraction in the Kashmir Valley.
"I think it is a very good initiative to construct a wall. This is being constructed for the first time in Kashmir. It will be beneficial for the tourists in the Kashmir Valley," said Sajad Ahmad, a resident.
Rock climbing expert Sandeep praised the initiative, saying it would encourage young Kashmiris to take part in adventure sports.
"I would like to appreciate J and K Tourism Department for taking this initiative, through which the youth who cannot directly climb the mountains for rock climbing can take part in this activity. We can attract lot of tourists and this will boost tourism in the valley," said Sandeep. (ANI)
