London, Dec 10 (ANI): British boxing champion Amir Khan, who decides about the fate of his opponents in the ring, has admitted to being afraid of his mother.
The WBA and IBF world light welterweight champion defends his titles here against Lamont Peterson, but he shatters his own ring image when he said his mother lays down the law at their home in Bolton.
"I have climbed into the ring with some of the toughest men in the world but, believe me, they don't come any tougher than my mum! Ever since I was a kid, I have always known that if she asks you to do something around the house you do it! You don't argue with her," The Sun quoted Khan, as saying.
"Our family is a very close-knit one and we always help each other and, throughout my life, doing chores at home has come natural to me whenever my mum has asked me to do something.
"I would have to be really brave to go against her. If she tells me my room is untidy I go straight in there and sort it out right away. It's good for me, too, because it all helps me to keep my feet on the ground. There is no place for any ego, believe me," he said.
Khan said that his Mother who reminded him on Thursday about his 25th birthday, as he was so focused on making a successful title defence.
"I completely forgot Thursday was my 25th - I must be getting old! It was only when my mum came into my room, gave me a kiss and wished me all the best that I realised it was," he said. (ANI)
