New York, Dec 7 (ANI): A judge has allowed a video game maker to proceed with a 100 million-dollar lawsuit against singer Beyonce.
Gate Five LLC had filed the lawsuit claiming that the singer backed out of a 2010 deal for a videogame called 'Starpower: Beyonce' after making an 'extortionate demand' for more money.
Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Ramos ruled that the firm could proceed with civil action, charging that Beyonce 'double crossed' Gate Five when she abandoned its project to make a dance videogame.
The suit, filed in April, accused the singer of "bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas [2010]" the New York Daily News reported.
Gate Five claims the firm financing the game backed out because of Beyonce's last-minute manoeuvres.
Beyonce's lawyers countered that she had every right to walk away because Gate Five had not secured financing for the project by a mid-November 2010 deadline. (ANI)
