Sydney, Dec 7(ANI): Former Australia captain Steve Waugh has told fast bowler Patrick Cummins to prioritize Test cricket ahead of big money on offer in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Waugh admitted that there is money to be made from the IPL, but he thinks as a young guy with potential and star quality, Cummins will end up making a lot of money out of cricket.
"The priority has got to be playing for Australia, the baggy green is number one and everything else slots in underneath that," Fox Sports quoted Waugh, as saying.
"And if his body is a little bit susceptible to injury at the moment his commitment has got to be playing for Australia first," he added.
Cummins is set for a million-dollar deal in the IPL after announcing that he would give his name for the players' auction next season.
The 18-year-old made his Test Debut in the Johannesburg Test against South Africa last month, becoming Australia's youngest Test cricketer since Ian Craig in 1953.
Cummins took 1/38 and 6/79, becoming the second youngest Test cricketer (behind Enamul Haque Jr) to take six wickets in an innings.
He then scored 13 runs in the second innings, including a four to win the match, and was presented with the man-of-the match award. (ANI)
