London, Dec 3 (ANI): 75 percent of the women wear only a quarter of the pair of jeans they own and dump the rest of them in the back of their wardrobe, a new study has revealed.
On an average, a woman owns 10 pairs of jeans but only wears three of them, which imply that there are seven pairs of trousers they never wear.
Usually, when the temperatures drop, sales of jeans soar. But when it comes to buying denim, women admit they're guilty of impulse purchases and bad decisions that leave most pairs gathering dust.
The survey, conducted by fashion destination misshighstreet.com, found that less than 10 per cent of women actually wear all of the jeans they own, the Daily Mail reported.
Hannah Buckley, a fashion-lover who founded the website, owns more than 50 pairs.
"Denim has long since transcended its workwear roots to become a essential wardrobe staple, so it's no surprise that the average woman owns 10 pairs of jeans," Buckley said.
"But what is interesting is the extent to which women hoard jeans, only to leave them dumped in the back of their wardrobe."
"The issue is that it's so easy to impulse buy and make fashion-led decisions about the latest on-trend jeans, and then be stuck with pairs that are ill fitting or you wouldn't be seen dead in a season later."
One of the major reasons behind this problem is the wide range of options, which are available these days.
"Adding to the problem is the huge range of style options- skinny, stretch fit, ripped, straight, boyfriend, low rise, high waisted, hipster, boot-cut, super skinny, easy-fit..."
"It can be overwhelming and it's no wonder we end up with jeans we'll hardly ever wear," she added. (ANI)
