Washington, Nov 29 (ANI): Dita von Teese insists that her burlesque shows don't objectify women since most of her fan base is female.
"Most of my fan base is female," Contactmusic quoted her as telling UK TV show 'Loose Women'.
"When you go to my burlesque shows, probably 70 per cent of the audience are women and the other 30 are gay or with their girlfriends or wife, so I think it's a difficult argument to say I'm being objectified because people are getting something different from it," she said.
The 39-year-old beauty also admitted that she has a "problem" with burlesque performers who don't strip because they are not being true to the art form.
"Where it comes from with the burlesque show, feathers and rhinestones, the performers stripped, that's what it was.
"I personally have a problem with it being commercialized, because it's not accurate to what those women who were taking off their clothes back then, its doing a disservice. If you're doing it, then do it properly," she added. (ANI)
