London, Nov 27 (ANI): Bookies have slashed the odds on NASA proving that there is life on Mars within the next five years to 4 out of 6.
William Hill is betting in relation to the new landmark mission to Mars by NASA, which has been recently launched to see if the Red Planet could support human life one day, the Daily Star reported.
The 1.6 billion pounds nuclear-powered Curiosity probe lifted off from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, and scientists hope that the six-wheeled vehicle will send back information that could pave the way for a human mission to Mars.
The probe is expected to touch down in August next year after completing its 354million-mile journey across space.
The probe, which will also try to determine if there was ever life on the planet, has been described by scientists as "the most complicated mission attempted on the surface of Mars".
Curiosity weighs nearly a tonne and is the size of a small hatchback car. It is powered by plutonium and armed with a laser and a jackhammer to punch through rock. (ANI)
