Button not 'scared' of Brazil return year after attempted hijacking by armed bandits

London, Nov 23(ANI): British Formula One driver Jenson Button insists that he is not scared of returning to Brazil, where he was targeted by machine-gun toting bandits ahead of the 2010 Brazilian Grand Prix.

Button, his dad John, trainer Mike Collier and manager Richard Goddard were attacked when their car was stuck in a traffic jam in Sao Paulo.

The 31-year-old escaped the attempted hijacking after his driver smashed his way through several cars to make their escape.

"I've no fears of going back to Brazil. What happened last year is not a concern. Something was going to happen as it had occurred so many times before with mechanics and engineers," the Sun quoted Button, as saying. In the end it was going to happen to a driver. I don't think they wanted anything apart from our bags out of the boot. We have more security this year and I think every driver will have a police escort, which they should do. But you have also got to spare a thought for everyone else that is in F1 because they don't have that."There is always somebody that gets held up and their bags get taken. It is an uncomfortable feeling for those people that it happens to," he added.

This year, Button will get a police escort and a bullet-proof car for the 50-minute journey from their hotel to the track, Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, in Interlagos. (ANI)
