London, Nov.22 (ANI): Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has revealed the team stopped developing their 2011 F1 car at the end of July.
The Sun quoted him, as saying that the Italian giants had been caught out by the blown diffuser technology demonstrated spectacularly at the start of the season by Red Bull.
And by the time they regained some ground it was too late to stop marauding Sebastian Vettel claim the world championship.
Domenicali said: "That is why basically at the end of July we stopped the development of the car. And so we are trying now to maximise the performance we had."
Domenicali said: "If you look at certain tracks where the effect of the exhaust is less, you see the car is competitive - in certain conditions very competitive."
The team chief also retains "good hope" for next season, when blown diffusers will be outlawed.
But he admitted Ferrari are chasing moving targets in Red Bull and McLaren. (ANI)
