Forgot where you parked your car? Try the new student's finder app

Melbourne , Mon, 21 Nov 2011 ANI

Melbourne, Nov 21 (ANI): A second-year computer science student at Melbourne University, who created an application to help people remember where they left the car or saw the perfect pair of shoes, has won the third place in a national awards scheme.

Go2Note, created by Matthew Browne, lets Android smartphone users mark a location with notes such as "parked the car here", later, when they want to find it, the phone's GPS works out the fastest route back to the marked location.

"It's one of those things with the mobile generation, we have computers in our pocket and ... we can use them to find our way back to our cars," the Herald Sun quoted Browne as saying.

"Or people who are shopping are able to make a note of where something is," he said.

The app is available free on the Android Market and Browne plans to improve the system over the coming months and hopes to make it compatible with tablet technology.

The computer science student at Monash University had only made one app before, but clinched third prize in the inaugural "Unleash your app" competition.

Browne's creation scored him 1000 dollars and a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone. (ANI)
