Sydney, Nov 17 (ANI): Australia's captain Michael Clarke has said his players are ready to fight for redemption in the second Test against South Africa.
In the context of saving the series, the clash in Johannesburg against South Africa from Thursday, is a must-win for Australia, and for several players facing the selection axe it's a matter of career life and death.
Clarke is satisfied with the players' attitudes since the first Test humiliation in Cape Town, and said they're bent on meeting his initial demand to "put up a really good fight".
However, failure to square the series and perform as individuals, will leave a quartet of big names facing the axing for the Australian summer starting against New Zealand on December 1, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The Johannesburg match may represent the end of an era. The new regime of Australian cricket, including new coach and new selectors, will take over before that first Brisbane Test.
Clarke said the second Test is all about redemption after the Cape Town debacle.
"It's a great test of character, that's how I see this game. (Forget) the result of it for the minute, I want to see us put up a really good fight. It's about creating energy. It's about doing whatever's required to help your mate out," he said. (ANI)
