FNVA, IIC to hold conference on 'River Waters: Perspectives and Challenges for Asia'

New Delhi, Nov. 16 (ANI): Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives (FNVA), an institute for developing peace studies, and the India International Centre (IIC) will hold a three-day conference on 'River Waters: Perspectives and Challenges for Asia' beginning here on Friday.

 

Former Chief Justice of India J.S. Verma, who is the patron of the Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives, will make the welcome remarks on the first day of the conference.

 

The Editor of China Dialogue, Isabel Hilton, G.B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development Director Dr. L.M.S. Paini and Amity University Founder Dr. Ashok Chauhan will be present on the inaugural session of the conference.

 

Dr. Ashok Chauhan, who is also the chairman of AKC Group of Companies, will deliver the inaugural address on the occasion.

 

The conference, which will be held at the India International Centre in Max Mueller Marg here, will witness the participation of scholars from China, Mekong Region, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan.

 

Former Attorney General of India Soli J. Sorabjee, who is the patron of the Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives, will chair the concluding session of the conference on Sunday.

 

The Foundation for Non-violent Alternatives is a Trust duly registered in New Delhi under the Indian Trust Act.

 

The Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives has two broad areas of work: peace education to develop and encourage the study of non-violence and its application as a civilian based strategy to conflict management in South Asia, including the teachings about democracy and human rights; and South Asia regional studies with focus on the rising power of India and China and their implications on the South Asian region as a whole.
