London, Nov 15 (ANI): Search giant Google has two secret product labs named 'Google X' that are developing advanced hardware technology such as space elevators, driverless cars and Internet-enabled household devices.
According to sources, the labs, one at the company's headquarters in California, and another at an undisclosed location elsewhere in the country, are being run "as mysteriously as the CIA."
The labs are largely filled with robotics engineers, and not software engineers who are more commonly employed by the company, according to The New York Times.
But the types of projects cited aren't the sort of thing the company will be releasing any time soon, Fox News reports.
According to researchers and developers, a space elevator is no more than an idea at present.
Similarly, robot cars and interconnected home products are probably not destined for our homes a car ports anytime soon.
According to the report, Google did not officially comment on the projects or even the existence of the Google X labs. (ANI)
