Mumbai, Nov. 14 (ANI): Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy rang the opening bell to start trading for the day at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) here on Monday.
Chandy, who is in Mumbai to attend the India Economic Summit held by the World Economic Forum, spoke on unfair trading by unauthorised companies and hailed the new Investor Awareness Programmes started by BSE.
"Lot of complaints we are receiving regarding the cheating by the unauthorised and unscrupulous companies, so many incidents are there. So, investors education programme is a very good thing that is beneficial to the common people and for their investment," he said. handy said that he has requested the BSE to induct awareness programmes to facilitate investors and prevent unlawful trading.
The opening bell ceremony also saw the presence of BSE Chairman S Ramadorai.
There was also a declaration on the opening of a new regional office in Kerala's Kochi city.
Ramadorai said that the aim to open a new premise is to provide investor and membership services and other awareness activities under one roof.
Significantly, the BSE benchmark Sensex was up by 169 points in early trade on Monday on fresh buying in IT, teck, healthcare, banking and realty stocks on hopes of good corporate results amid firm Asian cues. (ANI)
