London, Nov.13 (ANI): Spanish football team manager Vicente Del Bosque has played down his side's loss to England at the Wemley Stadium on Saturday.
Frank Lampard's second half header condemned the world and European champions to defeat at Wembley.
The win was the Three Lions' first over reigning World Cup holders since they beat Argentina 3-1 at Wembley in 1980.
Despite seeing his side boss possession and control large parts of the match, Spain could not find a way to penetrate the England defence.
The Sun quoted the former Real Madrid boss, as saying: "I don't think it was an upsetting defeat. The team put in all the effort they could, they played some good football and controlled the match. We just lacked a bit of spark in the decisive area of the pitch."
He added: "I'm disappointed and angry that we did not win but pleased with the performance we put in. There were lots of positives. We had lots of possession. We showed a lot of patience against a side with so many players behind the ball. Maybe we lacked a little speed to get behind with the ball." (ANI)
