'Harry Potter' Invisibility cloak becomes reality in Texas

London, Sat, 12 Nov 2011 ANI

London, Nov 12 (ANI): A physicist from the University of Dallas has successfully created strands of the elusive invisibility coat immortalised in the pages of 'Harry Potter'.

According to MSNBC, Ali Aliev, the researcher behind the feat, said that he was able to make the cloak using carbon nanotubes, which look like thin strands of thread.

"We really can hide objects. ... We can switch for a short moment and make it disappear," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

In a video posted on YouTube, the strands are seen appearing and disappearing during a demonstration in Aliev's lab.

"It's interesting for ordinary people, because usually scientists show something microsized under some microscope," he said

"But here, in real time, real objects were disappearing," he added. (ANI)
