New Delhi, Nov 9 (ANI): Brushing away the rumours about his selection as prime ministerial candidate by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), veteran party leader Lal Krishna Advani on Wednesday said that the party would decide on the candidate at the time of the elections.
"No no, these things don't matter, it has been decided that nominee for the party leadership would be decided at the time of elections," Advani told the media here.
Earlier, lauding Advani for his long and eventful political life, senior party leader Rajnath Singh has said the latter is not a contender, rather an 'evergreen prime ministerial personality' of the party.
"I would not call him a contender for the post of the Prime Minister, in fact he is an obvious choice. And when we read newspaper reports (touting him a contender for the Prime Minister's post) regarding a person of such an exceptional personality, then it definitely hurts," Singh said.
"If you will flip through the pages of his political career, you must have seen that many innovative initiatives in Indian politics if any political leader has undertaken, then it is honourable Advaniji. If any political leader has kick-started the concept of 'Rath Yatra' in Indian politics so as to connect with the masses, Advaniji has done that," Singh added.
Advani kicked off his nationwide tour from Sitab Diara village in Bihar on October 11, to take on the UPA Government on the corruption issue and press for return of black money stashed away abroad.
The 38-day long yatra will conclude in Delhi on November 20 in the form of a massive rally. (ANI)
