Melbourne, Nov 9(ANI): Dumped Australian opening batsman Simon Katich has hired a noted sports lawyer to spearhead his defence at the Cricket Australia (CA) disciplinary hearing that he must front over his claim that captain Michael Clarke was behind his Test sacking.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Darren Kane has been brought in by Katich's management before the November 21 hearing in Melbourne.
Kane is due to meet Katich and his team on Friday.
Katich was reported by CA for his allegation against Clarke and faces a fine of up to 5,750 dollars or suspension.
The 36-year-old's claim that Clarke had played a part in his national contract not being renewed this year was denied vigorously by the latter, as well as CA chief executive James Sutherland.
Katich said that he believed he would not get back into the Test line-up with Clarke at the helm, citing the infamous incident between the pair in the SCG dressing room in January 2009 as a reason for his axing. (ANI)
