London, Nov 8 (ANI): NASA has released 'keep off the grass' guidelines for future moon visitors to preserve and safeguard six Apollo landing sites and other artefacts left behind.
The set of guidelines comprise 'no-fly' zones over the first and last moon-landing sites as well as 'look-but-don't-touch' instructions for anyone approaching artefacts left on the moon by Nasa's 12 moon-walking astronauts, the Daily Mail reported.
The lack of atmosphere or weather conditions on the moon indicate that the footprints left by each of the 12 Apollo 'moon walking' astronauts would still be visible on the lunar surface.We really could see little robots going in and assessing the sites, we just don't want them destroyed," NASA's Robert Kelso said.
While there was little chance of a privately funded mission to the moon, there was equally little thought put into conservation of the six Apollo landing sights.
"We want to protect all the lunar sites, but the Apollo landing sites carry particularly important cultural, historical and heritage value. They are key sites in Cold War history," Kelso told USA Today. (ANI)
